X includes

Hi.... I'm running Suse 6.3 and everytime I want to compile a program for the X server (I'm running the './configure then'), I get an error message saying that the X includes can't be found. Does anybody know where I can get these includes and in which directory I have toput them??? I'd be very greatful if someone could help me with that.
