Nochmal: hast du mit 'file dein_tarball.tar.gz' geprüft, ob es sich tatsächlich um ein mit gzip gepacktes archiv handelt? Welche Fehlermeldung bekommst du denn, wenn Du 'tar -xvf dein_archiv.tar.gz' aufrufst?
