Ich kann Dir unheimlich guten Rat geben, den willst Du aber nicht hören: Sobald Du Highpoint und RAID hörst, ersteres direkt in die Tonne kloppen. Der Treiber ist proprietär. Wieviele Stunden hast Du jetzt schon verschwendet? Wenn Dir das System abraucht, greifst Du nach Knoppix & Co - ooops, tote Hose. Da läuft nix. Kein Treiber. Nach jedem Kernelupgrade compilierst Du einen neuen Treiber. Wenn Du das vor dem Neustart vergißt, kommt die Kiste nicht hoch. Du greifst also nach Knoppix & Co - ooops, Mist. Zeitverschwendung? Und jetzt kommt der größte Witz: der proprietäre Treiber tut auch nur das RAID per Software. Auslagern der RAID-Funktion auf die Karte? Fehlanzeige. Geschwindigkeitsgewinn? Null. Sagen wir es klar: Du bist von Highpoint verarscht worden. Wie jeder andere Highpoint Kunde auch. Ich sehe hier nur 3 gute Lösungen: 1) Du brauchst echte Leistung. Du kaufst 15000rpm SAS SCSI Platten und einen dazugehörigen Kontroller, zB Adaptec. Das kostet tausende. 2) Es muß preiswert sein, aber wenns schnell genug ist, ist das ok. Du kaufst einen 3ware RAID Kontroller (3 Ports: ca 500EUR) und billige Consumer Platten. 3ware ist echtes Hardware-RAID. 3) Es muß billig und RAID sein. Du nimmst einfach nur Linux. Du hast keine Probleme (außer nicht-bootende Systeme, weil der SUSE grub installer kaputt ist). Es ist nicht weniger performant als HIGHCRAP(TM). Gegenüber 1) und 2) hat es auch noch den Vorteil, daß Du noch an Deine Daten dran kommst, wenn der Kontroller abraucht. Da es nur ein Industrieüblicher SATA Kontroller ist, Platten einfach woanders dranstecken und weiter gehts. Tip: Dein Highpoint arbeitet wahrscheinlich auch als ganz einfacher SATA Kontroller (zu mehr taugt er eh nicht). Das hätte man dann auch billiger haben können, sage ich mal hier für potenzielle Nachahmer. Ich nehme auf meinem Desktop 3) mit RAID1 und 2 Platten, mit 3 Partitionen auf jeder Platte: die ersten beiden für / und /home, RAID1. Die 3. auf jeder Platte ist ohne RAID und gibt mir Kapazität zB für die openSUSE DVD, für die ich nicht doppelte Plattenkapazität verschwenden muß. Mit Linux Software RAID muß ich nicht die ganze Platte als RAID nehmen. Die Partitionen müssen noch nicht einmal direkt gegenüber liegen, das sollte man aber trotzdem tun, es ist einfacher und man kann dann auch wahlweise von jeder Platte einzeln booten (wenn de andere kaputt ist).
