Description: The Git distributed revision control system was updated to version 2.12.0, which brings several fixes and enhancements. - Use of an empty string that is used for 'everything matches' is still warned and Git asks users to use a more explicit '.' for that instead. In the future this warning will be turned into a hard error. - The historical argument order "git merge 'msg' HEAD 'commit'..." has been deprecated for quite some time, and will be removed in a future release. - An ancient script "git relink" has been removed. - The character width table has been updated to match Unicode 9.0. - Commands in the "git diff" and "git log" family by default enable rename detection; use "diff.renames" configuration variable to disable this. - Merging two branches that have no common ancestor with "git merge" is by default forbidden now to prevent creating such an unusual merge by mistake. - Output formats of "git log" that indents the commit log message by 4 spaces now expands HT in the log message by default. The "--no-expand-tabs" option disables this. - "git send-email" now uses a more readable timestamps when formulating a message ID. - The rsync:// transport has been removed. - "git fetch" and friends that make network connections can now be told to only use ipv4 (or ipv6). - Add support for talking http/https over socks proxy.
