[opensuse-translation] Handling of Bug Reports
The handling of translation related bug reports is often rather
time-consuming. I'm wondering how we could improve it. I'll describe
and comment how it works today.
Bugs filed with component "translations" are by default assigned to me
(ke -@- novell.com). Then I must find the translator who can actually fix
it.
That's fine, but does not scale that good any longer. We now have more
translations and translators, more languages, and, happily, more users
who run localized desktops.
In the past, I simply searched through lcn/50-etc/translators and
assigned the bug accordingly.
The first step to improve the workflow is to cleanup the translators
file (I'll attach it). I'd like all our team coordinators to check
whether team listings are fine. I think it would work the best, if the
team coordinator would come first. With the switch to Berlios, the
account names are ambiguous ;) We need them both, the Berlios account
name and the one at Bugzilla.novell.com. Often, they are the same,
though.
I think it would work if we'd simply add the Bugziall account name at
the end of every line, that's after the mail address:

I was unsure if you prefer to get the info via e-mail or if you prefer that we edit the file in svn ourselves - but I've gone ahead and updated my info in svn myself (r56941). Another question, do you only want info about translators with svn access, or should active translators without svn access also be added to the file? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-translation+help@opensuse.org

Thanks! Editing the file yourself is perfectly fine--the less work for me, the better :)

Here I only need translators with svn access. If you think different, you could also add all team members (in this case, the entry should start with white-space). But there is no need to enter all their data into that file; we will not forget about the contributors without svn access--thus far we have their data in the so-called package database. -- Karl Eichwalder R&D / Documentation SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nuernberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-translation+help@opensuse.org
