[opensuse-translation] [trunk/yast] services-manager.pot outdated?
Hello, services-manager.pot looks outdated to me. Strings from the software are missing or are commented ("start", stop", "active", "inactive", …) Could the maintainer please take a look at it? Regards, Antoine -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-translation+owner@opensuse.org

I think trunk has been abandoned, there is no point translating it. :-? -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 13.1 x86_64 "Bottle" at Telcontar)

I don't think so, last commit for trunk was 12 hours ago: https://svn.opensuse.org/viewvc/opensuse-i18n/trunk/ I also noticed that zypper translations are regularly updated and integrated to Tumbleweed. Recently, French translations for Tumbleweed's YaST desktop files were successfully updated even if I had to make the submit request by myself on the Build Service (desktop-translations package). Therefore French team (at least I) is still translating Tumbleweed. I heard that you (and all the Spanish team?) had stopped translating it but French team has not taken such a decision yet (as far as I know). Finally: I'm not sure about who is taking care of the pot updating job and of the integration of the translations in the distributions. Maybe Karl Eichwalder? Or Gabriel from Vertaal? Anyway, to the concerned people: I'd like to help on this part in order to accelerate things a bit. Unfortunately I have found no information on the wiki about this (joining, process, etc.). Could you tell me how to join? Regards :) Antoine -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-translation+owner@opensuse.org

I don't know for the general process. But I'll try to get the YaST strings in sync at some point next week. If it does not happen, ping me back. I've seen that the YaST pot files have been updated, thanks! Could you also post the commands you ran for updating them? I don't know but they may be useful for us — if we create a script that automatizes the process, as Luiz suggested. Trunk is the translation branch for Tumblewwed as it was for Factory, so there is no reason to abandon it. POT files update is a dev job. Devs must submit new POT files _AND_ update the translations from PO files too. For each POT file, there is (should be) a maintainer. For LCN you have a MAINTAINER file : https://svn.opensuse.org/viewvc/opensuse-i18n/trunk/lcn/50-pot/MAINTAINERS For example, for zypper : * Michael Andres is written in MAINTAINER file * he (mlandres) updates zypper.pot file : https://svn.opensuse.org/viewvc/opensuse-i18n/trunk/lcn/50-pot/zypper.pot * he is an active dev of zypper : https://github.com/openSUSE/zypper/commits/master The problem is that lots of devs do not take time for translations update. That is why Karl Eichwalder pings maintainers regularly, or at least before string freeze. Guillaume

There is no team decision, yet. Me, personally, have stopped caring about Trunk, yes. However, one of our team was busy translating things in trunk, but he stopped when he found out that none of his work was appearing in Tumbleweed, and there was no way to do it. It is possible that some devs, like those for zypper, take care to update their pots and pos, and some do not.

I know that Vertaal does not do it. I understand it is Karl who does it; at least, he knows about it.

No, I don't think there is information on this part of the process. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. That's why I think we should automatize this process just like KDE do (they have a script which runs every day which extracts the strings from git repositories to .pot files in a svn repo and update the .po files for all languages) Regards, Luiz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-translation+owner@opensuse.org
