So, this is the date it will show up - but to build it, we need to check the packages in first. For some core packages like glibc and gcc this is the friday before - for the others it's the monday before.

So, deadline for package maintainers to checking for most - perhaps all - packages is monday and they need some time on monday to prepare their packages and include the translations.

I understand the maintainers need to have the translations in advance to make the rpms. But the translators need also to know clearly which is the final day to commit their work. In my group there are several files which were not commited thinking there was enough time. So, the next round starts on Apr 21, Monday. The release is Thu, Apr 24. When do we have to submit our translations? If it is two days before, that means on Tuesday. Ie, we have only one day of translating! Please, remember we are not professional translators. No way! :-) You can submit translations for the distribution (yast/lcn) till the end of translation testing (May 29). If not, it would be a pure nonsense: testing without the possibility of fixing. Of course, if things didn't change for 11.0.

Also, it is not clear when is the last day to submit the translation of the release notes. Jun 10 ?

About release notes, usually they're updated also after the final release, so don't worry too much about them. They'll change deeply till the release anyway. Yes, but I'd say the following week is also fine, esp. because you are still allowed to test and fix bugs.

We can change the time representation in the wiki (and I don't care) - but during German summertime it will be different ;-) since the checkin is done in Germany,

Argh! (That's one of the reasons why I hate the winter/summer time craziness) But at least, specifying UTC the rest of the world would know when things are supposed to be. It needs a bit more work on the writer part, but the readers, being all over the world, would be, should be, safer understanding it. (It is worse now that some countries don't change the time at the same day as others. Crazy! Measurements should be standard...) This depends on the package. yast translations we can take really may 29th, but e.g. zypp.po, desktop-translations or gnome-translations I would like to have 2 days before.
