Re: [opensuse-translation] Which are the files for the installation media?
Hi.
Hi.
Thank you Luiz. I give up for the moment. I downloaded the entire SVN and I'm still not able to find some of the strings by using 'grep' (most probably I've overlooked them, I'm a bit tired lately). The ones I've found seem to be already translated, so it's probably that Tumbleweed's translation packages aren't up to date or there's some mismatch between the SVN and Vertaal.
I haven't read any complaints on neither the translation nor the mentioned bug, so there mustn't be many Spanish speakers installing Tumbleweed anyway, or they perform the installation using the English language.
Greetings.
One thing that is not good in Tumbleweed is that our translations are almost not used (due to the fact that it's not updated frequently) so sometimes we have the string translated but its reference changed in yast git meaning that the updated package in TW loses our translations (it happens with zypper also)
Since I joined the translation team I have the feeling that something is not right. I know for sure that I translated parts of some files before 13.2 was released and they were not present in the final product. And I frequently translate things but keep seeing them untranslated.
Maybe the devs should do something to automatize this process, similar to what KDE does. In KDE there is a script who every day (for us could be every week maybe) runs and updates the .pot files, check .po files and I'm not sure submit it to KDE git, so the updated package always have the most translated possible.
Yes, there was a brief talk about that at https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=924314 and Karl Eichwalder created https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=910320 but someone has to implement it. I use to fix the missing translations when I spot them while using YaST, but I'm going to make a pause while this is improved in some way. If translations don't get to the users, there's no point spending my time on it.
PS: Maybe we should bring this back to the mailing list
Sorry, I don't know what I did to send the message just to you. I wanted to send it to the thread. If it happens again, resent the message to the list, please. PS: I want to let it clear that I am neither complaining nor wanting to put the blame on no one.
