[opensuse-translation] Freezing of package summaries and descriptions
Hi all, when will packages be frozen, so packages/pot files become stable for translation? I know there is time for translation until the GM, but I would like to know how much time we have to translate new/fuzzy strings. We never set them to frozen before, but we only allow critical bug fixes after RC1 - and very seldom do these change package strings. Well, now we are in RC2, so there should be no more package description changes. I tried to run the prepare-split.sh script against http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.1 and there are several fuzzy/new strings: 263 fuzzy and 193 untranslated strings. Some fuzzy strings are relative to the kernel, so the only differences are the source timestamp and the git revision and the fix is very easy, while other strings are not so immediate to fix. Moreover, I have found that non-oss packages are not present in the pot files. Is it right? If yes, then we will end up with a mixture of translated (oss) and untranslated (non-oss) summaries and descriptions. That's a lot! We don't have that many kernels, so how come?

We should add another pot file for those then. Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-translation+owner@opensuse.org

They are not all about kernels, of course; descriptions relative to kernels are 20 (2 in base1, 8 in dvd3 and 10 in factory). So, considering only base, dvd, gnome and kde, untranslated/fuzzy strings are 167 and 201, respectively, but fixing factory is very easy using translation memory even if it is not necessary for the release.
We should add another pot file for those then.
Probably. Best, Andrea -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-translation+owner@opensuse.org

Since now oS 12.1 is almost closed, provided I have understood correctly your message [1], I think it is better to refresh the packages/pot so at least oss packages are completely translated. Any comment on this?
