[opensuse-translation] software-opensuse-org.pot
Hi, I added software-opensuse-org to all languages. It contains the texts of a new download web page we're currently developing. It's far from complete, but we need to collect experience with translating web pages with po files. http://software.opensuse.org/developer2 is the currently deployed version and it will redirect to e.g. http://software.opensuse.org/developer2/da Feel free to take a look, but only start translating it if it's ok for you that it will change (possibly a lot). But it will be good to have early feedback. Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-translation+help@opensuse.org

Thanks for the quick supplies - http://software.opensuse.org/developer2/ja looks really cool [beside the incomplete design] :) A quick addition to my previous mail: I only use 100% translated files at the moment. It might make sense to go down to ~90% for the release, but at the moment this is my limit. coolo, what about the download button? Could you make it with a background image with a translatable text? -- Kind Regards -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-translation+help@opensuse.org

The actual design is just a place holder Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-translation+help@opensuse.org
With the recent update of s-o-o.pot here comes this line: msgid "%d collections and %d binaries from %d source packages" Such a line will never get an adequate translation in slavian languages, since they have three plural forms and this line puts all the numbers together, making some of combinations impossible to translate even in case of having a msgid_plural entry for this line (three variants for three numbers give 27 combinations, but a single msgid_plural entry will give only three) I guess this line should be splitted into three parts with msgid_plural each, having a comment with the whole phrase for correct translation to eastern languages and similar. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-translation+help@opensuse.org

Hmm, I understand the problem but I have not really a good idea how to split this text. Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-translation+help@opensuse.org

Greetings, Stephan
Maybe using named arguments will give translators more freedom to translate it. msgid "%(collections)d collections and %(binaries)d binaries from %(source)d source packages" - -- Kind regards. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEAREIAAYFAkrmyTEACgkQNHr4BkRe3pLiKgCfeKvK+LuY3j8YkYHKtDL/sp59 Wb0An25lT3l9UGIbYOOIiYprv3HPGVdI =Bs1A -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-translation+help@opensuse.org

Maybe, some kind of more formal text is an option: source packages: %d ("collections: %d, binaries: %d) Not perfect, but probably less offending. -- Karl Eichwalder R&D / Documentation SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nuernberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-translation+help@opensuse.org
Gabriel:
Maybe using named arguments will give translators more freedom to translate it. Wrong. There is no difference for parser which substring is substituted for number. The problem is in words AFTER numbers: there are different variants of each word, impossible to translate correctly in one line.

Not perfect, but probably less offending. Exactly. You got the idea right. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-translation+help@opensuse.org

Right, but as a translator, you can reformat the message to follow your needs. There is no need to keep the English format if it doesn't fit with your language. -- Kind Regards -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-translation+help@opensuse.org

Yes, that's exactly how I solved the problem for now. And sorry for misunderstanding the initial message, you are absolutely right: variables renaming should be done, too (e.g. I ran into another grammar problem with providing number-independent words, needing to reorder numbers) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-translation+help@opensuse.org
