[opensuse-translation] Wiki contains still a number of references to using the svn(.opensuse.org) server
Apparently the svn(.opensuse.org) server has gone. Still the wiki (en.opensuse.org) contains a number of references to that server and how to translate using a PO/POT based application. I could change text in the wiki, however I am not too familiar with all the possibilities that still exist how to do translations apart from using Weblate. Apparently it is also possible to commit translated po files to github, which would be my preferred way of working, because it is closer to using the workflow using the svn server. -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-translation+owner@opensuse.org
Hi, which page or link do you mean? I'll fix it then. Best regards, Sarah

Hi,
which page or link do you mean? I'll fix it then.
It starts on https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Localization_guide When working only with Weblate all references to PO and POT files and related applications are useless. In which case also pages referenced in this wiki page are useless. However when some documentation on how to work with these files in github is present only minor changes are needed.
Best regards, Sarah

I have removed all hints for SVN now and changed it to Weblate/ github. Where was a link to the old SVN? I didn't find it. I thought I have changed all SVN links last year...

To me, mentioning subversion, po or pot directly triggers a reference to an svn server after using so many years this type of server and still using the KDE svn server for translations. So most likely such a physical link is no more there, it is the link in my brain. Would it be possible to document the use of github? Hi, I added a github part today. But I recommend: "Use Weblate for uploads and not github!" The reason is you have to use Pull Requests on github. github isn't SVN. We are working with our public repositories and the project owner has to review every PR. That can need time (sometimes 1 month). In this time other people did changes via Weblate or any developer updated all files and there exist a merge conflict then. I am using github for po files only in 1 situation: - We have release time and we need finished translations. - The Weblate project is locked and suggestions won't be accepted. - The translated file is one of "Most important files". I did that with zypper very often. That's the reason for the example. A short time before the release most repositories will be reviewed very often. So such a merge conflict is minimal (especially with locked Weblate repository). Best regards, Sarah
