Re: [opensuse-translation] opensuse-updater-gnome translations
Thanks for the link. It's clear for what have been written there that translations have very low priority at suse. GM has incomplete translations of one of the most visible applications of the system, and it doesn't matter if it's only an applet. It's sad and ridiculous. I really have some motivational issue on going on with translations, because it's plain useless with people who think there's always something more serious. In the italian translation, even installing the language packs, it results completely untranslated, even if all .po files are completely into italian.
What's wrong there?

Translations are very important for us and I'm not satisfied with this either. We will deliver an update of opensuse-updater-gnome with translations asap, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Director Platform / openSUSE, aj@suse.de SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

Thanks for your answer Andreas. Is there a possibility for "final fixes/refinements" in the translations? I mean a sort of cumulative patch for minor issues we found during the last testing? It's nothing serious, but considering we are planning a patch for the updater... :-) With kind regards, Alberto --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-translation+help@opensuse.org

Hi. Is there any deadline when should be translation finished? I assume we will not wait for all languages to be translated to release the update. Regards Ladislav. 2007/10/2, Karl Eichwalder <ke@suse.de>:

Yes, I'd say we should try to finish this translation within the next seven days. If you need more time, add a comment to the said bugzilla report. Hi Alberto, please, do not understand the updater localization problem as a general attitude. In this case, we have been working hard to provide a working application first. The localization is in fact useless, if the application does not work at all. Localization can be in fact fixed by patch published after release, including updated translations. However, if the updater applet does not work, you are unable to apply the fixes at all. We do take localization seriously. E.g. look at the bugzilla, where engineers always worry if they can fix the problem and avoid breaking already existing translations. Thanks for your hard work! Stano P.S.
