[opensuse-translation] [Attention]YaST Software Management GTK broken because gtk.pot is broken!
Hi, Karl and all other local translators: Please watch bug 801311: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=801311 (There's also a software bug in it and has been assigned, so I can't assign it to Karl at the same time) Our yast/50-pot/gtk.pot is now only 48 strings, comparing to 321 strings in qt-pkg.pot Some former commit before 12.3 destroyed all strings for the GTK interface. (ViewVC is currently broken, so I can't tell which commit) So we may have to re-do the work for a big update. Just reserve some time in your schedule, or your locale will be broken for the entire 12.3 life cycle! I think that you have to open a new bug for that one.

I can only say that gtk.pot for version 12.1 contains 266 messages, and qt-pkg.pot 318. They don't need have the same number of messages. gtk.pot for 12.3 now contains 48 messages, and it is dated 2012-10-24 13:36+0200. Moost of the files are dated Jan 2013. But I have no way of knowing if the file is what it should or not. Probably the yast devs should re-submit the correct gtk.pot file. And we do some svn trickery to retrieve corresponding translations. However, I note that the gtk.es.po for 12.3 was last translated 2011-10-18, and it is fully translated. The file has not changed in years. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. According to the 'svn log' and 'svn diff -c 78732' for gtk.pot, revision "r78732 | jsuchome | 2012-10-24 13:41:42 +0200 (Wed, 24 Oct 2012) | 2 lines" has dropped 222 strings but it has not added new strings. If you want to retrieve the original po file before the dropping, you can use svn cat gtk.it.po@78731 > gtk.it.po-78731 and then you can use old strings as you prefer. Best, Andrea Hello,
I had the problem of broken yast-gtk after installing ymp file (right after the first installation). I searched and found that it was a bug. There was a solution https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=786650 Not sure if it's what we're saying here. I also tried one myself. I installed and used yast-qt and it worked fine. Not sure if it's what we're saying here.
I think the two problems are unrelated: the bug and your problem should have nothing to do with missing translations (caused by broken pot file) as we are discussing here. Which why I suggest it should be tracked on a different bugzilla. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R.
