Hej! The Swedish translation for OpenSUSE seems to lag behind the other Nordic languages. And due to a bug in Leap 42.1 (https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=953643) several menus are written in Cyrillic alphabet when you install the Swedish language package. I have used OpenSUSE for many years, and I think it's payback time. I'm willing to do some works on the Swedish translation and I contacted the Swedish team-leader Jonas Björk (jonas@jonasbjork.net), but he isn't active in the translation process any more. How can I help? Jonas Svensson jks@ekhorva.se -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-translation+owner@opensuse.org

Hello, you can simply start translating and request svn acces :) 1) The easy part is on l10n.opensuse.org where you can use the web aided translations. 2) For the non-migrated content you need to work up in the svn and fixup all the problems as noticed in the bug above. HTH Tom

Hello! thanks for your replay.
1) The easy part is on l10n.opensuse.org where you can use the web aided translations.
This part worked like a charm :-) . But I need some guidance in the SVN part - on openSUSE's translation page I found a link to those SVN-branches: https://svn.opensuse.org/svn/opensuse-i18n/trunk/yast/sv/po . https://svn.opensuse.org/svn/opensuse-i18n/trunk/lcn/sv/po . Questions: ================================= 1. If I edit in those branches will it fix both Leap 42.1 and Tumbleweed? 2. I have found out how to compile the .po files to .mo files so I can test the translation on my computer before uploading (I run Leap 42.1). Do I need to package the files into a RPM before uploading or is it enough to just upload the translated .po files? /jonas fredagen den 4 december 2015 10.55.41 skrev du:

The trunk is for tumbleweed. Leap has separate branch: https://svn.opensuse.org/svn/opensuse-i18n/branches/SLE12-SP1/yast/sv/po/ https://svn.opensuse.org/svn/opensuse-i18n/branches/SLE12-SP1/lcn/sv/po/ Yes, it is same branch as for SLE 12 SP 1.

Yes, no, and no... But SLE12-SP1 is not meant to be touched by community translators. Thus far, I used SLE12-SP1 in combination with trunk for packaging translations for Leap. Maybe, we now can create a dedicated Leap 42.1 branch. If you want me to update yast packages for 42.1, you please must create a bug. Package updates will not happen automatically. Hej! Bug created a few weeks ago: (https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=953643) I had a look inside the SVN history, and the Swedish translation seems to be damaged somewhere between r930085 and r93048: revision date status --------------------------------------------- r90085 2014-10-13 OK r93048 2015-10-01 Err Problems are found in both yast and lcn directory. As far as I can see is the translation for SLE12-SP1 OK. I hope I get some time for further investigation in the weekend :-) . /jonas tisdagen den 8 december 2015 09.12.37 skrev Karl Eichwalder:

I had a look inside the SVN history, and the Swedish translation seems to be damaged somewhere between r930085 and r93048:
revision date status --------------------------------------------- r90085 2014-10-13 OK r93048 2015-10-01 Err
Actually, they were damaged exactly in r93048: svn log --verbose -c 93048 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ r93048 | keichwa | 2015-10-01 15:00:33 +0200 (Thu, 01 Oct 2015) | 1 line Changed paths: M /trunk/lcn/sv/po/update-desktop-files-apps.sv.po M /trunk/lcn/sv/po/update-desktop-files-directories.sv.po M /trunk/lcn/sv/po/update-desktop-files-kde-services.sv.po M /trunk/lcn/sv/po/update-desktop-files-kde.sv.po M /trunk/lcn/sv/po/update-desktop-files-mimelnk.sv.po M /trunk/lcn/sv/po/update-desktop-files-screensavers.sv.po M /trunk/lcn/sv/po/update-desktop-files-yast.sv.po M /trunk/lcn/sv/po/update-desktop-files.sv.po update ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This change contains updates like this: msgid "Write Speed" -msgstr "Skrivhastighet" +msgstr "брзина писања" The files haven’t had any updates since the change, so it should be very easy to revert: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13330011/how-to-revert-an-svn-commit -- Karl Ove Hufthammer -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-translation+owner@opensuse.org

Hej!
The files haven’t had any updates since the change, so it should be very easy to revert:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13330011/how-to-revert-an-svn-commit
I have just reverted the damaged files to rev. r90085. Indeed very easy :-) . To check that everything is OK I did the following on my desktop: 1. > 50-tools/lcn-udf-compile.sh sv 2. > sudo cp po/desktop_translations.mo /usr/share/locale/sv/LC_MESSAGES 3. > rm -rf ~/.cache 4. log out and log in Now the Serb translation are gone and everything seems to be normal. But the Swedish translation lags behind - the last translation was done in 2008 by Jonas Björk  /jonas -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-translation+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-translation+owner@opensuse.org
