Hi,
I need to talk ;)
I noticed today a problem, that I thought is specific to my current work, but I figured it's a general problem we have since ages and never noticed:
We have msgctx "Name(konsolehere.desktop)" msgid "Open Terminal Here" msgstr ""
Looks harmless. Problem here: kde3's german has a different translation than kde4's german. And it's not just one example, it's almost everywhere. And I have no idea how to solve the problem - I need to write _one_ translation. Splitting into even more pot files is no solution either as then somewhen later we have to pick - and all we have is "konsolehere.desktop".
Anyone a brilliant idea? At least the good news: by now I can sort by package name, so I can define which package should win. But will this be good enough?
I'm tempted to ignore the issue: if the desktop filename is the same, then it means that you have two different versions of the same program in two prefixes. In this case, the most recent translation wins (ie, KDE4). Or are the KDE3 and KDE4 translations completely different? (I guess it will mainly be an issue for KDE3 vs KDE4?)
