Re: [opensuse-testing] 11.2 requires higher level of hardware than 11.1

1. Can you install from the NET install disk now?
I have not yet tried the M2 NET install, but M1 fails while getting the repo information. It does not get to the install stage.
2. Did you try one of the lighter-weight GUIs like IceWM or LXDE?
I cannot get far enough to install any GUI. In fact, this machine does not even have X on it. It is a command-line only system.
3. Will Windows 7 run on this machine? XP? Fedora 12 beta / Ubuntu 9.10?
I would not ever install any Windows system on this machine, although it had Windows 2000 on it when I bought it. It is reserved for testing the PCMCIA b43legacy and b43 wireless drivers. I have not tried F12 or Ubuntu.
I have a full KDE 11.2 desktop running on my 512 MB Athlon XP laptop. The LiveCDs thrash unacceptably, but it does read DVDs and once the install is done, the KDE desktop is usable. I run LXDE on it, though, because I'm using it as an audio machine and want the extra RAM for that.
The LiveCD requires i686 - It is not possible for me. Larry -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-testing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-testing+help@opensuse.org
