Hi Gabriel! The meeting page is here http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_Testing_Core_Team/Meeting/20091022 (though I have still to add the summary, if someone can do that, it will be good) and the transcript is here http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_Testing_Core_Team/Meeting/20091022-transcrip... Henceforth I will log the transcript of the meetings and put them up on the wiki as soon as possible so that those who missed the meeting can take a look at it. -- Atri -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-testing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-testing+help@opensuse.org
Thank you Atri.

Testing Core Team, I need a check on bug 549426. Basically if you install a KDE 4 desktop from the DVD the "My Documents" path in OpenOffice.org is incomplete. If you check Tools->Options->OpenOffice.org->Paths The "My Documents" path will show "/home/<username>/" rather than "/home/<username>/Documents" This has happened to me on real hardware and in Virtualbox. Interestingly in GNOME this is not a problem. It's also not a problem in KDE if you install GNOME first. The first dev to check it out claims he cannot reproduce. I wonder if this is a quirk from me having a "." in my username? Please confirm the validity of this bug so we can get it addressed or closed as invalid everywhere but Refilwe's computer. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=549426 Refilwe Seete oS TCT Member -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-testing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-testing+help@opensuse.org

The problem is in Personal Settings -> About Me If "Paths" -> "Documents path" is set to ~/Documents, your *default* directory is set to ~/Documents rather than ~/ and all applications that default to opening in ~/ instead open in ~/Documents; ie: xterm or konsole. There was a bug report back about then end of June but I haven't followed it. The setting has not been corrected. -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-testing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-testing+help@opensuse.org

Is this not also a separate bug altogether? I can see that if OpenOffice.org is set-up using a one-time read of the KDE Paths during installation...then if the Documents path is set to "~/" in order to counteract the behaviour you describe...OpenOffice.org will then set its My Documents path to "~/". Effectively, a work-around for the bug you describe ends up creating the bug I am describing. However in the interim, I don't see why OpenOffice.org cannot be set to just use a predetermined set of paths. Since we're looking at OpenOffice.org in the context of a distro install, we know what folders are being set-up in a fresh /home so we can have our the paths done accordingly. In the case of an install including a pre-existing /home, the user will likely have OpenOffice settings already anyway. One problem is that directory names are language-dependent. I verified that "my documents" changed properly in gnome/OpenOffice when setting language to German (becomes "~/Dokumente"). So things are not always as easy as they appear. Work-arounds with side-effects should be avoided, though as they tend to be forgotten and later cause extra trouble. -- Ciao Bernhard M.
