I don't have a working Ubuntu but I do now have a working TW - yes its rtw89. It's working very well I don't have WiFi 6 so can't comment on that.
I did try the Sauerland:hardware repo but... Must have done something wrong. I don't have the machine to hand but I will try again. Probably Sunday, or next Monday and report back here.
Let's hope it gets included in the kernel sooner rather than later.
My Wifi 6 AP is capable of 1500 Mbps in the 5G band, thus I would expect the maximum TX or RX rate to be about 750 Mbps. At a distance of ~1 m from the AP, and using the latest version of https://githib.com/lwfinger/rtw89.git, the command 'iperf3 -c 192.168.1.51 -u -b 400M -P 4' yields a throughput of 346 Mbps is each direction. A local LibreSpeed server has rates of 610 Mbps download and 244 Mbps upload. Using speedtest.net, the device gets the maximum rates that my broadband connection provides. I feel these rates are satisfactory. The connection is stable. All factors considered, this is a good driver.
It will be included in the kernel relatively soon, probably in 5.15. The main impediment is the dearth of reviewers.

Folks, FWIW. Spent hours on Sunday trying to get the openSUSE OBS repos to work 100% fail simply does not work - both Leap 15.3 and TW. Getting the source from Git and make/install works perfectly on TW will not even make in Leap, sorry forgot to not the error but was related to the redefinition of a variable. Just ping me if you need any other tests. Ariez ajv@opensuse.org
