[Leap15] How often should zypper dup run on 15.3?
I have recently upgraded from Leap 15.2 to 15.3. The upgrade was straightforward. Should I run zypper dup from time to time, or will updated packages for Leap 15.3 be notified on the opensuse-updates list? -- Bob Williams System: Linux 5.3.18-lp152.50-default Desktop: KDE Frameworks: 5.71.0, Qt: 5.12.7 and Plasma: 5.18.5 https://useplaintext.email/

God - to be expected after intense testing :-)

If your update was to the version of the gold master (Build 160.3) no further zypper dup is required. You can use zypper up or use the update notification widget on your desktop. (Not sure what is on opensuse-updates as I'm not subscribed) HTH Axel

how was this straightforward when I take into account these two bug numbers? <https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1184326>
and <https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1184808>
My dup some weeks ago and before that was quite a mess, see those bugs, and development team trying to bring in a lot of nasty fixes and new technical means to fix the transition to SLES and more corporate ways of suse. :s

apparently at this moment, it is only the leap 15.3 isos that have already goldmaster generalvailability level and been created published and pushed to the download.opensuse.org infra/structure. the repos and their files are still from mid may 2021, although some folks pointed out the non-oss repo apparently is already GA level. the oss repo is not just yet. sweet. so you can and could dup some addtl times whenever oss repo becomes GA level. and in general you can actually always dup within your own branch release level it is kind of the same as up, doesnt really differ. at least thats what i figured the past generations of opensuse. eventually you can switch over to zypper up or zypper patch

I meant that it was straightforward for me. I'm sorry it didn't run so smoothly for you. -- Bob Williams System: Linux 5.3.18-lp152.50-default Desktop: KDE Frameworks: 5.71.0, Qt: 5.12.7 and Plasma: 5.18.5 https://useplaintext.email/

At this point you should run zypper dup one more time after release day to ensure you have everything. After that you should use zypper up and I would expect updates beyond that point should be announced on the opensuse-updates list. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B
