Google's new backdoor strategy : Web Environment Integrity (WEI)
I know, this is the openSUSE support board, but I would like to post this worrying article here. I would like to ask for appropriate forwarding... "Web Environment Integrity" is an all-out attack on the free Internet Submitted by Greg Farough on July 28, 2023 - 7:34am Using a free browser is now more important than ever. We've written recently on this topic, but the issue we wrote about there was minor compared to the gross injustice Google is now attempting to force down the throats of web users around the world. The so-called "Web Environment Integrity" (WEI) is the worst stunt we've seen from them in some time. Beginning its life as an innocuous, if worrying, policy document posted to Microsoft GitHub, Google has now fast-tracked its development into their Chromium browser. At its current rate of progress, WEI will be upon us in no time. https://www.defectivebydesign.org/blog/ web_environment_integrity_is_an_all_out_attack_on_free_internet Kind regards M Be Free, Be Linux

Thanks, we need a crash hardened browser that makes it click-easy to swing between different modes like Normal, Defensive, Stealth.. complete the list all the way to Black-Hole.

Steve Gibson's "Security Now!" podcast had a section on WEI. It truly sounds frightening! If you're interested here's a link to the podcast: https://media.grc.com/sn/sn-932.mp3 All of Steve's podcasts are worth listening to in their entirety , but the part on WEI starts at 21:50. His podcasts are in their 18th year. Regards, Lew
