OpenOffice 4 wants gtk2-tqt-engine
I'm trying to get OpenOffice to work (required by another software I want to use). I have successfully installed openoffice, but when I try to start any of its components it fails with "The application gtk2-tqt-engine (soffice.bin-gtk-tqt-application) crashed and caused the signal 6 (SIGABRT)." It looks like it's imbedded in OpenOffice? Not sure. I've attached a trace. Might be related to the desktop I'm using (Trinity)? you probably know that OO is a dead horse? Does LO not work? It uses the same calls (soffice.bin) and is maintained.... Cheers Axel
As I said below, "(required by another software I want to use)." The software does not work with LibreOffice; I already tried that. Leslie On 2023-07-08 13:48:26 Axel Braun wrote:

Not only it is a dead horse, it has a great record of unpatched security issues. I really would suggest to try to get your software working with libreoffice. A software package that only supports openoffice and not libreoffice smells a lot, IMO.
