LaserJet won't print from this OpenSUSE-TW computer. (It did, but not now.) Print jobs get stuck in the queue. lprm will only remove stuck items one at a time--I thought that it would delete all the queues at once, but it won't. Note that once a computer has been compromised you can never trust anything on it again. Malware can hide in places in user data that would survive an operating system re-install. The disks, all of them, should be slicked and the operating system installed from scratch. User data should be restored from backups after checking for malware. If there's no backup I'd boot the system from the rescue disk, mount a different disk and copy /home to that temporary disk. Does the openSUSE rescue system contain clamav? If not, maybe load knoppix or something so that the temporary disk can be scanned with clamav and rkhunter. At any rate, the process is rather complicated and can still fail if you accidentally restore an ods file containing a foul macro, or something. So you want to be really sure that you have a problem before going down that path or all your time could be wasted. Regards, Lew

The computer was not compromised, IMNSHO (maybe his Amazon account was, but that is different and unrelated, unless there are more unknowns). He simply pointed the browser to <https://localhost:631> instead of <http://localhost:631>, got a security warning and freaked, because about the same time he got the mail from Amazon. There is no relationship. Try it yourself. The warning is normal, it is a self signed certificate, and has to be ignored, or switch to normal http. He is not the first person to be surprised by that security warning from Firefox. Do try yourself. It is is harmless, but you know that if it were an external site, it would be important. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.2 x86_64 at Telcontar)

See my prev message. libesets_pac.so is not from openSUSE. Google indicates it is an "ESETS" file; note filename This is probably coming from your having installed NOD32. May be misconfiguration or this may be ok but there is some incompatibility with another app; Snap, Rummina, and Windows RDP are mentioned as possibilities. There are also claims of this interfering with USB and video. and so possibly other services, too - could be the source of other problems you're having, given how some AV scanners hook into the system. These threads give some pointers: https://forum.eset.com/topic/14226-error-message/ https://forum.eset.com/topic/7097-log-in-show-ldso-object-libesets_pacso-fro... https://forum.eset.com/topic/14226-error-message/ I saw that an ESET NOD32 update fixed this problem for some. Maybe try that, or just uninstall it. --dg

Print jobs get stuck in the queue. lprm will only remove stuck items one at a time--I thought that it would delete all the queues at once, but it won't. Root lprm -P (printer name) needed to clear all the queues one at a time. Ping of that printer produces an error:
doug@linux1:~> ping 192.168.1.29 ERROR: ld.so: object 'libesets_pac.so' from /etc/ld.so.preload cannot be preloaded (cannot open shared object file): ignored. PING 192.168.1.29 (192.168.1.29) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 192.168.1.29: icmp_seq=1 ttl=255 time=0.702 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.29: icmp_seq=2 ttl=255 time=0.409 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.29: icmp_seq=3 ttl=255 time=0.387 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.29: icmp_seq=4 ttl=255 time=0.387 ms ^C --- 192.168.1.29 ping statistics --- 4 packets transmitted, 4 received, 0% packet loss, time 3069ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.387/0.471/0.702/0.133 ms
That printer will print fine from a different computer (and a different OS.) Ping from the other computer shows no error.
I don't know what to do next. Suggestions? --doug
HPLIP provides granular control of your printer, including the queues.
--dg
HPLIP seems to require dependencies that are not available.

I'm using 3.19 on Leap 15.2. I installed 3.20.11 from OBS, which is the current TW version. Both run fine here. But you're on TW, I can't help with dependency problems there. Given your ESETS issue, I would focus on that first (see my other post). Once that is resolved, I strongly suggest working on getting HPLIP installed - it is a very good tool for managing HP printers. --dg
