Hope someone out there is familiar with xsane, a scanner driver that works on Linux and on OpenSUSE. I want to use this because it allows print pixel density, save in various sizes and modes, etc. Installed it using Yast zypper. (I had it working once on Tumbleweed--don't remember what hoops I had to go thru, but it was simpler than now.) Running Leap 15.3 (Carlos take note!) Xsane website shows that it is completely compatible with Epson WP4530 all-mode-printer-scanner-fax. (I have had xsane running on Linux since PCLOS, 9 or more years ago, with the same scanner hardware.) Changed address in /etc/sane.d/epson2.conf to reflect the fixed IP address of the /printer-scanner. Computer says Points to usr/share/applications/xsane.desktop --I don't remember the "desktop" addition to the filename Also, under permissions, says file is a link and does not have permissions. Just found in my Downloads directory a file called "imagescan-bundle-opensuse-15.2-3.65.0.x64.rpm.tar.gz. Did not open the "bundle"--it's 2:48 AM and I'm going to bed. Don't know what's on it, but a quick look at the readme file shows it may answer the questions.

Why don't you look up in the mail archive your own questions when you asked about the scanner, maybe a year or two ago? The desktop icon points to "XSane Scanner Tool." I don't think "tool" was originally part of the name. I think at the time when I first installed the app on OpenSUSE, I had another Linux machine with it installed already--this time I don't. Thanx for the reply. --doug

That is just something you put in your desktop, in your home directory, at some point in the past. It is not something that the installation did for you now. It is irrelevant. Just start yast, which is a graphical tool, and look for the scanner module, which is an icon to click on it, and click on it to start the system-wide configuration of the scanner.
