[opensuse-support] well supported usb wifi dongle ?
Hy guys, I need to move my router to another room so I have to switch my connection from cable to wifi. I don't want "small/nano dongle" (usually low range), I've found few models with good reviews but they need the rtl8822bu driver that is not in the kernel. Often all compatibility list are outdated. Any advices ? Thanks, Daniele. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

Daniele. I do not know your requirements. I do not know your opensuse version. I do not know what router.
I am using a devolo wifi dlan and since my lenovo wifi card is broken and it has a whitelist (so no replacement I am running since some time with good results the: ASUSTek Computer, Inc. N10 Nano 802.11n Network Adapter [Realtek RTL8192CU] For me that was plug and play. Is however not Wifi ac but wifi n afaik. However, if the signal is not strong, chance are good that wifi ac adapters will drop to 2.4 Ghz and will not renegotiate, so you do not loose anything. And yes it is "nano" and does not cost a thing. _________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________ Ihre E-Mail-Postfächer sicher & zentral an einem Ort. Now I'm watching this: https://www.asus.com/Networking/USB-N13/overview/ with good reviews from linux users. Thanks, Daniele. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

In the past i've been lazy and just bought raspberry pi branded ones, they seem to have always worked. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

Don't get a dongle based on the RTL8723DE, this isn't supported in the kernel yet although there are drivers available. I know because I have it in my HP laptop.
