pipewire and Komplete Audio 6
Hi *, among others I have a Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 device plugged in one of my machines. Since Tumbleweed moved from pulseaudio to pipewire/pipewire-pulse, I sometimes have problems to switch to that device for output; it simply doesn't play anything. Switching back and forth in most cases cures the problem. Besides that I can't select some of the input and output connectors of the device. So does anyone know how to configure that device correctly? For pulseaudio I had to provide a special /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/ profile-sets/native-instruments-komplete-audio6.conf, which I found somewhere on the internet back in 2015, but I couldn't find anything on how to do it for pipewire. TIA. Bye. Michael.

Pipewire picks up that file. Pulseaudio includes native-instruments-komplete-audio6.conf since a couple of weeks. It's in Pulseaudio 15.0 [1][2][3]. You might wanna test that file. [1] https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/tags [2] https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/blob/master/spa/plugins/a... [3] https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/merge_requests/695/diffs?... I'm afraid I can't help more than that. I don't use pipewire since it's not ready for daily use for professional audio. But you could try #pipewire on OFTC (official irc) and Libera chat (more folks but not official). https://www.oftc.net/ https://www.oftc.net/WebChat https://libera.chat https://web.libera.chat Cheers, -- /bengan

it indeed exists on my system. Thx for that hint. So I have to find out how to configure my inputs and outputs: ; ; This card has three stereo pairs of input and three stereo pairs of ; output. ; ; We knowingly only define a subset of the theoretically possible ; mapping combinations as profiles here.

Thx a lot! I'll try it there. Besides that it seems, my problem switching between outputs isn't related to this device, but occurs for all devices with pipewire. Perhaps it is a problem with the sound applet for plasma5. My default output is set to the internal speakers. Strawberry is configured via the "Applications" tab of this applet to use the Audio6 for output. Initially this works as expected, but as soon as I switch to the "Devices" tab of the applet no more sound can be heard, though it seems, that Strawberry still plays on the configured output. Switching the output back and forth a few times helps sometimes, but not always.
Cheers,
Bye. Michael.
