[opensuse-support] Tumbleweed Question: how has been removed USB flash drives auto-mounting
Hello, I remember clearly that some time ago not so many, as soon I plugged a USB FD in my laptop its file system went mounted automatically and the drive was accessible by the TW file-manager. Now this function has disappeared and I have to mount the USB FD manually or semi-manually using apps as UDISKIE. Would like to know why this functionality has been apparently removed or how it could have stopped to work since I have not modified anything. Thanks and regards, -- Marco Calistri Build: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20200103 Kernel: 5.3.12-2-default - Cinnamon 3.8.9

guess you have a local problem. Inserting a usb stick here automagically mounts it. Tw 20200105 kde5/plasma5 Definitely not the default. Did you enable this from KDE / Plasma?

*if* you are replying to me, via <right><click> on "most recent drive" icon (removable devices) and selecting "configure removable devices" and I cannot remember when I "configured" it as it has been that way for a very long time. if you were addressing Marco Calistri, disregard. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

On a stock KDE, new user, nothing gets mounted. It will though if one in f.e. Dolphin clicks on the representatiion of it in Places, it does get mounted. But there is Systemsettings - Removable devices though. And in the past I saw a "Always perform ...." options for removable devices. Default in KDE Plasma5 is still to get a notification from the Device Notifier, no automount.
if you were addressing Marco Calistri, disregard.

Yes it was related to File-Manager settings but also to gvfs that what not properly working on my system, I noticed because Thunar has correctly noticed me about missing gvfs. As side note I wonder why "at-spi2-core" being an essential core dependency for hundreds of other packages, I never used it I don't need it and it was filling the log with plenty of messages but can't uninstall it to avoid a broken system.
