[opensuse-support] Change in powerstate triggers change display layout
Hi, I've just got a new laptop and installed Leap 15.2 on it, got it updated right after installation and began setting my environment when I noticed that the Display Layout change action (osd) was triggered without me pulsing the combo keys (Fn+F9 in this hardware), At first, I noticed it popped up after 2:30 minutes (sharp). After a while, I discovered it happened also when unplugging the charger, and when plugging it back. At the moment this is no critical for me to keep working on the laptop. but sure it is annoying, and some applications won't work properly if this trigger keeps happening, like the screensaver/dimmer (detects activity and never activates) or rsibreak (detects activity and resets counters) Do you know what the reason for this might be, and where to start to look for fixing this? OS: Leap 15.2 (5.3.18-lp152.44-default), KDE Plasma System: SCHENKER VIA 15 Pro (AMD Ryzen 5 4600H with Radeon Graphics) You can find some logs attached, Thanks in advance Francisco

I have found that at kernel 5.8 is needed to run AMD Ryzen 4000 APUs (if APU is still the correct term for AMD CPU + graphics). If you can - try that - it should resolve your issues - it sorted out this and many other issues I had with Ryzen 4750U. I am yet to find a good/practical/hassle-free way to use Leap 15.2 and kernel 5.8 without constant hassle with updates and all sorts of virtualization/kernelModule and dependencies related trouble. Maybe I just do not know how to do this the intended way. Hope that helps, Tomas -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

This being too a new system, that was my first thought and tried TW before Leap, but the peripherals were not stable (the touchpad sometimes worked, sometimes didn't). I found Leap to be more usable on this machine. Funny enough, the touchpad worked if the laptop was booted with a pendrive attached to a port XD I'll try to make this working, it is at most annoying, but usable, Thanks Francisco

First thing checked. No action set at 2.5mins, even tried disabling the buttons event handling, but not to avail, I'll try to see if there is some acpi non-standard functions on this chipset, as it looks like it is the case Thanks, Francisco
Well, just an update. I managed to get rid of the OSD triggering by disabling dimming the screen and going directly to screen lock. So far, it seems to work, Francisco On Tue, Oct 13, 2020 at 8:33 PM Francisco Isgleas <francisco@isgleas.com> wrote:

After installing the amdgpu drivers and reenabling dimming, everything seems to be working properly now. RSIbreak, KDE's Night Color Control and lock screen, I needed the driver. Who would know! ;) Francisco On Thu, Oct 29, 2020 at 11:02 AM Isgleas, Francisco <francisco@isgleas.com> wrote:
