[TW] No video in certain programs since upgrade of Mesa packages
Since the latest upgrades of the Mesa drivers, I have not been able to playback mp4 video files in mpv or web browsers (firefox). The audio channels work OK, and not every video viewer is affected, eg. VLC and Dragon can playback both video and audio. My video card is a Radeon RX 550 / 550 Series, system is Tumbleweed, display is wayland. Interestingly the same thing happens with Kdenlive. When I add a clip, only the audio channel is editable, the video channel is not loaded/available. Is this a known problem? Any suggested solutions? -- Bob Williams No HTML please. Same thing if you try X11?

It's an issue for which I have yet to see a solution: <https://forums.opensuse.org/t/lost-video-after-update/176547> -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science. Team OS/2 ** Reg. Linux User #211409 ** a11y rocks! Felix Miata

Thank you.
It turned out that after the initial upgrade problem with the Mesa packages, I had multimedia stuff here from a mixture of repos. A result of trying to find a working mesa. :~> sudo zypper dup --from "Packman Repository" --allow-vendor-change switched all the multimedia stuff to packman, after which mpv and kdenlive worked as expected. -- Bob Williams No HTML please. Not 100% related, but after the upgrade to Plasma 6 I have a black screen in gwenview when a video is displayed. Switching all video stuff to packman did not solve the issue I had opened https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486216 a while ago, but no feedback so far. Does anyone else encounter this problem? Cheers Axel

Pretty much expected when no information whatsoever is included about the GPU. -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science. Team OS/2 ** Reg. Linux User #211409 ** a11y rocks! Felix Miata

Not sure if it is a GPU issue. starting gwenview and calling a mp4 (which is working in VLC player: docb@X1E:~> gwenview kf.i18n.kuit: "Unknown subcue ':whatsthis,' in UI marker in context {@info:whatsthis, %1 the action's text}." org.kde.kdegraphics.gwenview.lib: Unresolved mime type "image/hej2k" [other mime-types messages skipped] QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 2 QPainter::setOpacity: Painter not active QPainter::end: Painter not active, aborted org.kde.kdegraphics.gwenview.lib: Invalid url QUrl("") org.kde.kdegraphics.gwenview.lib: No date in exif header of "/home/docb/Ehrenmal Lohausen.TIF" QPixmap::scaled: Pixmap is a null pixmap GPL Ghostscript 10.03.1: Unrecoverable error, exit code 1 QPixmap::scaled: Pixmap is a null pixmap QPixmap::scaled: Pixmap is a null pixmap [00007ef1b800ea50] main filter error: Failed to create video converter [00007ef1c009e860] vdpau_avcodec generic error: Xlib is required for VDPAU docb@X1E:~> zypper se -i xlib Loading repository data...
