[opensuse-support] leap 15 fresh install: root pass don't works
Hello, I just installed with maximum defaults a leap 15. no problem for user, but I can't access root; not yast2, not alt Fx terminal, not su... passwd refused as invalid rescue disk allow changing the pass with no better result. My pas include upper and lower case, and sign typing the pass in the user line (to test) gives exactly what I want, but in passwd mine do not give access google do not give result any idea? there is nothing useful on this (given as trash) computer. UEFI, secure boot boots ok thanks jdd -- http://dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

Try setting a plain password, like "hello". -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.3 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)

yes, I will, but every test needs two reboots, pretty long :-( thanks jdd -- http://dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

Then you have a keyboard related issue. Leave a terminal open for root now, and in another try to change the password, never closing the first one. This will avoid rebooting for testing further. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.3 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)

an issue but probably not keyboard. When I'm at the prompt, If in place of typing "root" I type my passwd, it's appears perfect, but on the pass line it don't works. I even tried to type it as if it was a qwerty keyboard, with no better result If I don't find an obvious error from my install, I will try bugzilla
