Test recent Kernel on Leap 15.2
Hello all, I'm trying to test a newer Linux Kernel on a Leap 15.2 system (x86-64). Compiling a new kernel myself (or have OBS build it) is something I'd rather avoid. Previously I simply used kernel-default from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable/standard/x86_64/ Right now this doesn't work: --- snip --- box:~ # zypper in kernel-default-5.14.15-1.1.g3416a5a [...] Problem: the to be installed kernel-default-5.14.15-1.1.g3416a5a.x86_64 conflicts with 'filesystem < 16' provided by the installed filesystem-15.0-lp152.11.3.1.x86_64 Solution 1: do not install kernel-default-5.14.15-1.1.g3416a5a.x86_64 --- snap --- Am I out of luck for 15.2 or is there another repo/something else I could try? Yes, on Leap distros you should now use https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable:/Backport/standard... which had been created after the UsrMerge thing in Factory. You'll also need to install a newer version of the "suse-module-tools" from the same repo.
Thanks and regards -- Till

Thanks for your answers! I can now install kernel-default-5.14.15-lp153.2.1.g3416a5a on a Leap 15.2 box. I did not install a newer version of the "suse-module-tools" but the system seems to install fine. So it does not really seem to be required? Thanks and regards -- Till -- Dipl.-Inform. OK, perhaps the requirements of the kernels there have been lifted... I remember I couldn't install any new kernel from there anymore until a new version of "suse-module-tools" had been added there, too.
