[opensuse-support] hdmi 'exact duplicate' output to TV screen?

I used to be able to set this up 'relatively' easily, now i can't at all! Wanting to watch netflix i want exactly and all of what i see & hear on my laptop to be seen and heard on the TV (fed via an AV-tuner/amp into which the other end of my hdmi csable plugs). As it is, I cannot see results on the TV until i plug in the hdmi cable, but once i do, then the kde pagers shrink to unreadable size and the mouse shows on the TV only where there is only a partial duplication. (i use two vertical panels, one on each side). It's a total fubar/PITA -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

Do you have a 2K or 4K TV? it sounds like your TV is running at a higher resolution then your laptop, you should be able to set them to the same in the display settings (I don't use KDE so I can't tell you how or where). -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B

It's a crapped-out 55" LG42LG55 with not too many K's in it I don't think :))))) My laptop is 1920x1080 But now both of have DMI as my next ones will too and I thought that DMI was about removing the user from wires and details (I know it didn't quite work out that way, when I open my AvTuner the TV shuts off and vice versa, I'm sure you've heard the horror stories). Bottom line, the majority user I think is not the darkstar hacker with six monitors but the average joe with one TV so maybe defaults should cater to him/her. It worked just fine until someone touched some code, now it don't.
