It's a crapped-out 55" LG42LG55 with not too many K's in it I don't think :)))))

My laptop is 1920x1080

But now both of have DMI as my next ones will too and I thought that DMI was about removing the user from wires and details (I know it didn't quite work out that way, when I open my AvTuner the TV shuts off and vice versa, I'm sure you've heard the horror stories). Bottom line, the majority user I think is not the darkstar hacker with six monitors but the average joe with one TV so maybe defaults should cater to him/her. It worked just fine until someone touched some code, now it don't.

it sounds like your TV is running at a higher resolution then your laptop, you should be able to set them to the same in the display settings (I don't use KDE so I can't tell you how or where).
