[opensuse-support] Tumbleweed: usb: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad?
Hi *, on my DELL XPS13 9370 I get the message usb usb10-port1: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad? when connecting a device to the first (closer to the front) of the two Thunderbolt/USB-C ports on the left side. Is this a hardware problem or can it be a kernel driver problem? Thx. Bye. Michael. P.S.: Sorry if this is a double post - my original posting probably wasn't sent. -- Michael Hirmke -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

Well, without mentioning the usual details (OS version, Kernel version), it's impossible to help you in any way. While at it, does it work on the second port?

Well, three times to be exact. But the content didn't improve meanwhile. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

Do you have authorized the access via Thunderbolt? Depending on which desktop you use this needs to be done in settings or on BIOS level. I could not find anything on that topic at Dell so here's a how to for our devices as reference: https://www.tuxedocomputers.com/en/Infos/Help-Support/Instructions/Setting-u... yes - everything works with the other two ports of the notebook.
