[opensuse-support] alternative ssh ports not set by yast in firewall
Downloaded 20200207 Tumbleweed install iso chose firewall and open ssh port successfully completed install, kde/plasma5 configured NetworkManager (wireless) edited /etc/ssh/ssh{d}_config to alter ssh ports restarted sshd (and network/NetworkManager) no remote access via ssh opened "yast firewall" and saw that ports for ssh were blank added alter ssh port to the ports tab for every zone where ssh was passed. now have remote access via ssh. iirc, previously all that was necessary is to restart sshd and the correct ports were assigned from /etc/ssh/ssh{d}_config. is this a bug? is it related to moving /etc/services & company or a problem with yast or firewalld? or is <user/admin> now expected to make another configuration to enable alternative ssh ports? fwiw: firewall-config was not checked. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

You are mistaken.
is this a bug? is it related to moving /etc/services & company or a problem with yast or firewalld?
or is <user/admin> now expected to make another configuration to enable alternative ssh ports?
fwiw: firewall-config was not checked.

tks, I stand corrected. Old memory is somewhat of a problem :) tks, -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

Old memory is somewhat of a problem :) What happened was that, during the system installation, there was the option to start sshd and open the firewall for it, in the installer. But no choice of port. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
