The person, the user, that is seated at the machine (the server in this case) who has an open and active desktop session. That user gets permission to use sound, video, cdrom, etc via policykit, I understand. The display manager (gdm, whatever) handles this. With remote sessions in a server you probably need some other method of getting those permissions, perhaps the traditional way of belonging to the needed groups. -- Cheers Carlos E. R.
