1) the installation process seems to suggest the use of the brtfs file
system. For obvious reasons I insisted on Ext4 for the /home partition.
Question: Are there compelling reasons to switch to brtfs? If so, how
should it be done? In the course of a future system installation?
The reasons for picking ext4 over btrfs are not obvious at all. It **is** obvious that the devs/release teams had good reasons to go for btrfs as the default. I have no idea about your reasons, specially since you don't seem to know btrfs. Most compelling reason for me is the snapshotting feature. It allows me to roll back at filesystem level when I break things. Furthermore the btrfs send/receive to create perfect backups/restores
It is also obvious to me to prefer ext4 over btrfs :-p -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.5 x86_64 at Telcontar)
