I do not even plan to install 15.6, rather I decided to wait for the successor version (Leap 15.7?).
Not a good plan. As with 15.4, and Leap releases prior, 15.5 support expiration will occur roughly 6 months prior to release of the successor (15.7) to its successor (15.6).
Therefore, I consider this matter closed. Except:
New issues deserve new threads with appropriate subject lines to attract the interest of such subjects. Grub can load installation kernels and initrds from any supported filesystem. Those for 15.6 (linux & initrd) can be downloaded from http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.6/repo/oss/boot/x86_64/loa... . A custom Grub stanza can be created in /etc/grub.d/40_custom for loading them. If you do this and succeed to boot them, you may abort, or continue with a NET installation of 15.6, just as if you had booted from the NET installation .iso. -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science.
