Hi, I am having difficulty with Mozilla Thunderbird openSUSE newsgroup subscriptions. I followed to the best of my ability the following "openSUSE SDB newsgroup reader software installation page". https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Newsgroup_reader_software_configuration I also followed this tutorial: https://legacy.hacklog.in/post/configure-nntp-for-opensuse-forums-in-thunder...
To the opensuse forums on nntp? They are not up.
The error I keep getting when I try to attempt to manage subscriptions is "Thunderbird failed to connect to server (So-and-So)"..... Even when I try to setup my email account I am having a failure warning of "unable to login at server". I have basically left the default setup in Thunderbird at: -> Preferences -> Connection Settings I have attached a screenshot of the connection setting in Mozilla Thunderbird which basically mirrors the settings in Mozilla FIrefox: -> https://ibb.co/LdwgYyw
Do you actually have a proxy on your network?
It's late here and I know this is not necessarily a standalone question referring to openSUSE although I am using Tumbleweed. I took another screenshot of account settings for "alt.os.linux.suse": -> https://ibb.co/GvjTsZx I thank you for any help or advice you can give.
There is no such server as alt.os.linux.suse, it is all wrong. It is a group, not a server. The first step is to decide and configure a _valid_ news server, and none of those you post about are valid. And your problems with email are not related to your problems with news. Try with, for instance: nntp.aioe.org I use News.Individual.NET, but it is 10€ per year. Worth it. For testing, try first with aioe. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.2 x86_64 at Telcontar)
