Could it be the case that this notebook is too old for Leap 15.6 ? The problem occurs at an early stage of the installation process, long before the graphical interface appears with the prompts for language, keyboard, .... As to your other clues/tips: being a naive user I decided not to try all these tests/tricks in order not to ruin my outdated, but working Leap 15.4. Thanks anyway!
