Anyone noticed the difference? There are forum posts and I was hit by this issue as well. To me it looks certainly worse and I was not able to get the same look with libfreetype6 2.10 and I had with 2.9.
I attached two screenshots to https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1172148 of the same terminal content using two different library versions. If anyone has suggestion how to get the same result with 2.10 as I had with 2.9 I am grateful.
I never configured anythjing explicitly, it is default Xfce installation without any customization. I do not actually know how to customize fonts (or, better said, I cannot predict what effect changing individual parameters would have).
For now I locked libfreetype6, but with 15.2 not far away ...
Interesting that I do not see the same effect in TW, so it could be something specific to Leap (may be some other libraries that do not work correctly with new libfreetype6).
I have last libfreetype6 version on my TW but it is coming by another repository (see below) I'm using XFCE and I've not noticed worse fonts display so far. marco@linux-turion64:~> rpm -qi libfreetype il pacchetto libfreetype non è stato installato marco@linux-turion64:~> rpm -qi libfreetype6 Name : libfreetype6 Version : 2.10.2 Release : 174.2 Architecture: x86_64 Install Date: ven 15 mag 2020, 10:10:38 Group : System/Libraries Size : 1241721 License : SUSE-Freetype OR GPL-2.0-or-later Signature : DSA/SHA1, mer 13 mag 2020, 13:09:59, Key ID f4cce1f4d15ee595 Source RPM : freetype2-2.10.2-174.2.src.rpm Build Date : mer 13 mag 2020, 13:09:29 Build Host : build70 Vendor : obs://build.opensuse.org/M17N URL : https://www.freetype.org Summary : A TrueType Font Library Description : This library features TrueType fonts for open source projects.
