Assuming you are using KDE (which you did not say)
Yep, its in my sig which i realise i must update to remove nouveau as i'm now using radeon
Signature is not even included on reply where it is needed. Is it so much work to say "I am on KDE"? Besides, a lot of users have more than one system and just one signature.
ok - i used my sig to hold what i hope is the relevant info about my system to save me typing it when i first email the query. I guess I can cut and paste it to the top of the email in future.
To elaborate. On X11 applications are aware of screen position and can save/restore it (at least request window manager to place them at their old position). This can be implemented by application itself or in framework (thus for most applications).
On Wayland application is not aware of its position by design, so this workaround does not work. It can only be implemented by window manager (a.k.a. Wayland compositor), but there is not enough information to match new application instances to old position information. Which is mostly what this bug report is about.
Thanks for that explanation - quite a surprised at first to see that bug is 22 years old. -- opensuse:tumbleweed:20221127 Qt: 5.15.7 KDE Frameworks: 5.100.0 - KDE Plasma: 5.26.3 - kwin 5.26.3 kmail2 5.21.3 (22.08.3) - akonadiserver 5.21.3 (22.08.3) - Kernel: 6.0.8-1- default - kernel-firmware-radeon 20221109
