you could use pbzip2 (parallel bzip2 compressor) and compress large files (in a small shell script, and decompress it and do it again) or you use the "kill ryzon script" this is originally written to compile kernel and heat up amd ryzon cpu's to show a problem inside some of the batches. i did not know if it will work with intel processors. and maybe you have to modify it a little bit to run under recent tumbleweed.
