I did provide one for the email and double checked multiple times. Then I noticed the following email message from my provider in inbox shortly after my initial email.
The email setup in Thunderbird is not related at all to the news setup. In fact, it is customary in Usenet to provide a FALSE or FAKED email account. For example: pj@countrycode.invalid If you want to set up email in Thunderbird, ask about it in another subthread. Don't mix the issues.
I am much more concerned with using Thunderbird for Newsgroups initially since I have never done that before. I don't want to be off topic here if I am. Is it more secure to just continue to login to my email provider through my webbrowser? Thank you
It is not offtopic. You say you want news first, so ignore email, don't set it up. However, it is usually preferable to use email via Thunderbird or suitable client rather than web browser - but your ISP may require you to configure for it first in the web page. That's fine. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.2 x86_64 at Telcontar)
