It's the following part that confused me. It says:

I thought if regular distro packages were ok but snaps were not it meant some element of the chain relating to the package distribution and signing. I didn't immediately associate that with the reference to kwallet. Anyway, I can stick with an old version for now or run Wire in a browser, or on a phone.
