What I did:
tmpfs is installed, two lines in /etc/tmpfiles.d/tmp.conf
q /tmp 1777 root root - q /var/tmp 1777 root root - [...] everything is cleared in both directories , and hasn't come back yet, except the daily files.
Your configuration via /etc/tmpfiles.d/tmp.conf won't delete anything, because you have a - (dash) in the last column (see 'man tmpfiles.d' and search for "age").
True for /tmp df tmpfs 7968M 1M 7967M 1% /dev/shm tmpfs 7968M 10M 7958M 1% /run tmpfs 7968M 0M 7968M 0% /sys/fs/cgroup tmpfs 3187M 0M 3187M 0% /tmp tmpfs 1594M 1M 1594M 1% /run/user/1000 devtmpfs 7955M 0M 7955M 0% /dev Anyway I change q /var/tmp 1777 root root 1d two reboots and /var/tmp still gets cleared?
