* Doug McGarrett <dmcgarrett@optonline.net> [08-30-20 21:13]:
I downloaded the file convertall-0.7.5.tar.gz and untarred it, producing a directory entry in Downloads
drwxr-xr-x 7 doug 1000 4096 Jul 4 2018 ConvertAll then:
doug@DESKTOP-4FH9U1P:~/Downloads> cd ./ConvertAll
doug@DESKTOP-4FH9U1P:~/Downloads/ConvertAll> ls -la total 52 drwxr-xr-x 7 doug 1000 4096 Jul 4 2018 . drwxr-xr-x 4 doug users 4096 Aug 30 20:32 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 doug 1000 227 Apr 8 2018 convertall.desktop drwxr-xr-x 2 doug 1000 4096 Jun 23 2018 data drwxr-xr-x 2 doug 1000 4096 Jul 2 2018 doc drwxr-xr-x 2 doug 1000 4096 Apr 8 2018 icons -rwxr-xr-x 1 doug 1000 11758 Apr 8 2018 install.py -rw-r--r-- 1 doug 1000 623 Jun 23 2018 README.md drwxr-xr-x 2 doug 1000 4096 Jul 4 2018 source drwxr-xr-x 2 doug 1000 4096 Jul 4 2018 translations -rwxr-xr-x 1 doug 1000 2618 Apr 8 2018 uninstall
doug@DESKTOP-4FH9U1P:~/Downloads/ConvertAll> cat README.md # What is ConvertAll?
Why write another unit converter? There are plenty of them out there. Well, I couldn't find one that worked quite the way I wanted.
With ConvertAll, you can combine the units any way you want. If you want to convert from inches per decade, that's fine. Or from meter-pounds. Or from cubic nautical miles. The units don't have to make sense to anyone else.
# More Info
See the [ConvertAll homepage](http://convertall.bellz.org) for more info.
There is also an [online version](http://convertall.bellz.org/js), written in JavaScript (see the doug-101/ConvertAll-js repository for the source code).
then I try to install the file:
DESKTOP-4FH9U1P:/home/doug/Downloads/ConvertAll # zypper install convertall.desktop Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... 'convertall.desktop' not found in package names. Trying capabilities. No provider of 'convertall.desktop' found. Resolving package dependencies...
Nothing to do.
This is a useful program. What am I doing wrong? (It seems to be in some repo somewhere ready to use, and I think I had it back in 2019, but I don't know how to get it now, and I don't know why the zypper install command doesn't work here.)
zypper se -s convertall but you probably will not know what to do with the information obtained. You really need to learn about your system, instead of just "doing" and borking things. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org
