I've SuSe 9.0 professional installed in a Terminator Asus Pentium IV 2Ghz. Seem to be all right but my eth0 doesn't work even if the module "sis900.o" is setup succesfully. I tried to find out an update about "sis900.o" but nothing for my kernel: "2.4.21-99-default" .... Anyone may help me?
a) 2.4.21-99 is rather old. There were a lot of Kernel updates for that one. I would try a new one (even for security reasons) b) what means "doesn't work" what does lspci say? do you see the card? messages in /var/log/messages? does the module load properly? do you see ethx? can you activate it? some more details would make it easier for the rest here Andreas
You need to update your kernel Paolo! I'm running SuSE 8.1 pro with an onboard SiS900 fast ethernet card. Kernel version is k_deflt-2.4.21-231 I have had no problems with the SiS900 card whatsoever, onboard or PCI versions. My standby server has a PCI SiS900 based ethernet card. Yast virtually auto-detected it as soon as it was installed. Is your SiS900 an onboard ethernet card? If yes, have you enabled it in the BIOS setup? Kind Regards - Keith Roberts
