Sounds good ..... what about a link for the suggestions that you "played" around with ..... would be even more helpfull

With respect to security issues/SuSE specials have a look at the "old" source on the distribution (what base did you use for your development ? was that from nmap.org or your latest SuSE distro and what version).

i used the source rpm found on my suse 9.0 pro cd set, and created an additional patch containnig the one modification from the aforementioned post.
