sftp-server no workie
Since I cut over to ssh2 and the latest sshd from Suse's site Ftp clients that can use sftp in addition to ftp have stopped working. (My users are using gftp.) Is there something I need to do in addition to having the subsystem line in the sshd_config? Subsystem sftp /usr/lib/ssh/sftp-server -- _________________________________ John Andersen / Juneau Alaska
Hello John !
Is there something I need to do in addition to having the subsystem line in the sshd_config? Subsystem sftp /usr/lib/ssh/sftp-server
We had a similar problem with sftp. In our case, the problem was that at login with ssh, there was a list of things printed on the console. Obviously this irritates the sftp programm when connecting. This list could be the message of the day (/etc/motd) or could be generated while executing /etc/profile or ~/.bash_rc or ~/.profile while/post login. May be that helps. Michael Appeldorn

I may be wrong or your gftp is newer than mine (which is gftp-2.0.8-104) but: gftp does not work with ssh2 sftp subsystem yet. and the sftp support included is actually some wrapper using ssh (scp) or an additional binary sftpserv, which is started after login throu ssh in a transparent shell. (dont know whether I am technically correct here)
other possible cause: the server key has probably changed during install of the newest version, and gftp wont answer the question: "hey, serverkey has changed, could be man in the middle" so check to login via ssh -2, check the sftpserv binary, check some commandline client like sftp, and read /usr/share/doc/packages/gftp/README hope that helps, lars
