MS-Exchange Folders convert to LINUX-Files ?
Hi, is there any way to convert the "Public Folders" from MS-Exchange-Servers (--> Outlook-Clients) to "Linux-Files" ? I am planning a security-Intranet with Apache-Webserver (i want to abolish the MS-NT-Server; it has to many sec. holes) Regards Michael J. Try "MSToNS": MsToNs will convert your Microsoft Outlook Express and Internet Mail e-mail folders to Netscape e-mail folders. Using Outlook Express you can convert Outlook 9X and other e-mail formats as well. http://freshmeat.net/appindex/1998/09/13/905661610.html Bye, LenZ -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Lenz Grimmer SuSE GmbH mailto:grimmer@suse.de Schanzaeckerstr. 10 http://www.suse.de/~grimmer 90443 Nuernberg, Germany

Some time ago I wrote a parser in perl, which extracts mails from Outlook-Express folders to inidividual files. It also skips attachments. But it should be easy to write mbox files or other formats with it and keep the attachments. Don't know if it works with Exchange, Outlook or new Outlook Express. If someone is interested, I'll send it by PM. leo
Hi, With M-$ex-change there is one neat solution to extracting mail folders. Use POP. With fetchmail you could fetch all the mailboxes from the M$exchange server as it knows about pop. -tosi

Since I'm just toying with FreeBSD 3.3 I ran across a package called something like mbx2mbox. I don't know about known formats (there are so many Outlook and Exchange client variants in the wild) or supported platforms besides FBSD, but they explicitely mentioned Outlook and - as the name suggests - produce mbox files which can be fed into almost any mail frontend or pop server. virtually yours - Gerhard Sittig -- If you don't understand or are scared by any of the above ask your parents or an adult to help you.
