Modify "login welcomes" in telnet, ssh, pop...
I'd like to know where are the files containing the message that you see when you telnet a machine, for example: the "Welcome to SuSe Linux 6.4" when you telnet the machine, the same for the ssh and the same for the pop, because when you telnet the pop port it shows you the version. I'd like to hide the versions of de deamons at my servers from the outside. Thanks!

have a look at /etc/issue, /etc/issue.net and maybe /etc/motd if you want:) cya, Marco -- Marco Ahrendt phone : +49-341-98-474-0 adconsys AG fax : +49-341-98-474-59 Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 19 email : marco.ahrendt@adconsys.de 04107 Leipzig/Germany gnupg key at www.aktex.net/marco_work.asc

The "Welcome to SuSE..." is in file /etc/issue and /etc/issue.net, the "have a lot of fun.." is in file /etc/motd. I believe you can turn these off.. see /etc/login.defs or you can edit the issue or motd messages. My ssh just asks for a password, no chatter, my pop just connects<?> Hope that helps a bit.
